She's back!

After a very very long break from the world of music blogging, I AM BACK!
I am sure all none of you are very excited.
The reason for my return however, was the discovery of what I will be sharing with you today, how long I will keep it up though is another story all together.

Entrepreneurs

I randomly stumbled upon this complete and utter musical genius a week ago whilst perusing some some blogs to add the finishing touches to my electro based summer soundtrack. After downloading the 'Uv been robbed (Joking, but not)' EP, I must have racked up well over 150 listens. The highlight for me is definitely 'Bubblegunk' so get that if you don't fancy the whole lot.
Now, I don't want to ruin the suprise for you, but have a listen and see if you notice why the title of the EP is as it is.
Rather embarassingly, it took me 15 listens of the whole 5 track EP to figure it out, you may notice straight away, but I've given you a heads up and I'm clearly backward so that's my excuse.

The EP is available for download from HERE for free, or for however much you wish to pay.
Or check it out here first.

You will not be disappointed by this synth filled piece of pure ecstasy (yes, it really is that good!) so get your bloody download on now kids!

And the prize for Most Half-Arsed Blogger of the Year goes to...

ME.

Definitely.

However, this is all set to change now I finally have a fully functioning computer!

Butterflies On Strings

Butterflies on Strings
are a Basingstoke based 4 piece who dabble in what can only be described as 'poppy electronic indie'. An my god, it's great.
I only came across these boys thanks to a remix the ever wonderful Frankmusik did of their song 'Thomas Is My Friend'.
They are definitely worth checking out, I've been caning them on the old iPod for the last 2 months, so they must be good!

Anyway, here is 'Thomas Is My Friend', enjoy!

P.S I apologise that its on ZShare, but my Fileden is playing up for some reason!

'E Wuz Robbed!

I dont really need to enlighten anyone on the 'political' voting of the Eurovision Song Contest, because everybody already knows how it works, and that nobody ever votes for England anymore, apart from San Marino [thank you].

To be honest, you have to applaud Andy Abrahams, the contestant flying the flag for the English this year, as he did give us our best Eurovision song for years. A measly 14 points clearly did not reflect his efforts.

But its expected right?

For me, the best song of the evening was from France's Sébastien Tellier, an already well known artist, with song Divine. I think I was probably taken with this right from the beginning when he drove onto the stage in a golf cart. The whole thing seemed like a bit of a joke to me, but it certainly didnt disappiont.

Enjoy!

Oh and if anyone can tell me what the hell Bosnia & Herzegovina's entry was all about then I would be very appreciative, how that got more points than our binman Andy I do not know...

Catch 22

[Far right...when hes of legal age he is gonna look like the more attractive version of Luke Pritchard..]

Lo-Fi Culture Scene are a group of 5 13/14 year old boys from North London, oh no i hear you scream, another boring bunch of kids who wanna be like Arctic Monkeys; fear not, these lot are great.
Its quite hard for me to make a coherent post as i am listening to them this very second, and far too many adjectives are flying into my brain space at once.
Basically, they make great music that you will listen to over and over again and know the words to every song within two days.
I just cant believe how young they are, they leave no clues, not vocally or instrumentally, and they certainly make music better than bands of twice their age!

To be honest, if i was that talented at their age, i would be a very happy chappy.

Well it has been a while..

So, nearly three months since my last post. Thats quite a lot of time and quite a lot of procrastination; this of course is irrelevant as nobody reads this blog, but it makes me feel better to write this and explain myself.

Three months is a long time, therefore allowing me to accumulate a load of goodies for your ears.

I am happy to say, Ear Bait is back on track, with some tracks for yoooou.

I have decided not to go for all new music, just music that catches my attention and that needs to be shared, OK, it will probably all end up new but whatever, the post after this isn't so there.

[OK, its clear I have gone mad.]

Firstly, I am gonna have to post my drafts, I have about 50 million that haven't yet been published so I suppose I can get that job out of the way first....

Take me far away.

motorway

This song reminds me of being in a car, in the early hours of the morning, on a deserted motorway coming back from a holiday.

It is by Zoot Woman, a London Based electro band, and it is called We Wont Break.

Enjoy.

Hugo come back..

The Tellers
This song is completely 100% one of my favourites of this year already. I know its not particularly new, coming from around September last year I think, but I really do think everybody needs to give it a listen and get themselves with the artists that are The Tellers.
The Tellers are a considerably young duet from Belgium signed to 62 TV records. They make catchy indie pop which can be listened to on their debut album 'Hands full of Ink' which is out now. Go buy it. Its worth.
The song I will posting goes by the name of 'Hugo' and it really is nothing but catchy. After one listen i was hooked, and I honestly haven't stopped singing it! It even gets the honour of being my Myspace profile song. Lucky eh?
Anyway. Enough rambling and more listening!

Enjoy!

Lightspeed Champion - Falling off the Lavender Bridge

I'll be completely honest with you, i've embraced the whole 21st century thing and only ever buy my music off the internet these days, and it takes something very special to make me go out and buy the real hard evidence of purchase.
Falling off the Lavender Bridge is one of those special things.
I even resisted the temptation to listen to the album when it was up for streaming on the Myspaz.

Anyway, enough of the rambling, I bought this album and it did not disappoint in any way shape or form.
It. Is. Brilliant.
New single 'Tell Me What Its Worth' is a real treat, along with 'Everyone I know is listening to Crunk' and the ever pleasing 'Midnight Suprise'.
I dont think I can name one song on the album that is bad. Not one. It all works really nicely.

If you can, buy your copy from Rough Trade as it comes with a bonus CD of cover tracks, which isn't suprising as every Lightspeed Champion fan knows he loves his covers! The cover CD was a nice suprise for me as the Good Shoes 'Never meant to hurt you' cover was definately one of my favourites out of the whole album and bonus CD...and a lot better than the original in my opinion too!

So, if you're in need of a new lot of tunes to listen to, I highly recommend you purchase this album. It really is good, a faultless debut album that i'm sure will be splashed across 'Albums of the Year 2008' lists in magazines and blogs at the end of the year!!

Once you pop, you just cant stop...

George Pringle

This rather lovely lady describes herself as a diseuse, a female entertainer who performs monologues, this she does, over music she has composed herself on Garageband.
The first time I heard Carte Postale I was immediately reminded of the late 90's band Black Box Recorder; most probably because of the spoken word lyrics and possibly haunting overall combination of those and the music.
It did take a while for me to truly appreciate the piece, but as soon as I did i fell in love with it and it definately is in my top five favourite tracks of 2007.
George Pringle is currently offering a free download every month here.

This months free song is "I'm Very Scared Buster, Yes At Last", which I highly recommend so get on over to RcrdLbl and download it!

Also, enjoy 'Carte Postale' because I really do think its brilliant, and the words are pretty much perfect.

2 posts in one day? Lucky buggers!

OK, you have probably seen this before or the Daft Hands video before, but I only stumbled across this today and WOW.

How. Cool. Is. That.

[Stick with it until its halfway through, thats when it gets good.]

Daft Bodies - Harder, Better, Stronger, Faster.

Thats him, right?

OK, so I have abandoned the blogging of late, bad of me I know, but UCAS takes up alot of time! Plus, i've been on a frenzied music hunt so I have looooads of music to grace your ears this January.
Which technically means you can let me off, right?

Regular Dave.

Thats the bloke from The Holloways I can hear you saying, and yes, you would be correct.
This rather attractive young man is of course Dave from the brilliant Holloways. I happened to stumble across his profile in one of my manic music quests and noticed that hes 'done a song'. Quite frankly, I think its marvellous. Lovely voice, lovely tune, lovely lyrics, he can't really go wrong.
Unfortunately, he won't be harassing the world with his solo efforts because "Regular Dave is afraid to sing these songs in front of people so you may never get the chance to see him live but you never know."
Despite this, you should give him a listen anyway, he is bloody good.

Shame really. Maybe they should think about making him the front man of The Holloways? Much easier on the eyes and much easier on the ears.
Anyway, make your own minds up and see what you think.

Muscles

If you're ever feeling a bit worse for wear and need cheering up, stick some Muscles on your iPod, stereo or computer.
I can guarentee you'll be immediately thrown into the feeling a 5 year old might get if stuck in a room with hundreds of balloons, bubbles and chocolate. Or be as happy as a 'hardcore' raver might be if shut in a dark rooms with a thousand glow sticks and a bag of pills.
Either way, it will have you dancing away with a stupid grin on your face.

His debut album 'Guns Babes Lemonade' was released in Australia in late September, and reached #1 in the Dance Album Chart in its first week.
Do you need anymore reasoning to check this guy out?!
Didn't. Think. So.

JA JA WUNDERBAR

Chaotic. Energetic. Manic. Catchy. Dancey.
All words that can describe the fantastic JA JA WUNDERBAR. The kind of band that make you want to jump around and punch the air the second their music enters your ear'oles. I can guarentee after a few listens of these 5 boys, you'll be humming their tunes away to yourselves for days.
More than likely in the street, while passers-by glare at you oddly.
I think this excerpt from their Myspace describes it all really:
"the five of us were auspiciously formed into a band during a WELL JOKES science lesson about spontaneous combustion, and with the use of greensparkes' german skills, we were able to fabricate the name that is,
JA JA WUNDERBAR.
with big man spex on the buttons, practices often end in murphs gums bleeding. and if he, the night hobbit, shows up we would try not understand the emotional realms he continously wanders to. leaving behind the 3 remaining members, to fuck shit up quickly."

Their name is definately in my top 5 band names, quite catchy dontcha think?

Anyway, enough reading, more listening! Get more free downloads from their Mycrack here.

Everybody loves Dev.

Lightspeed Champion.

Probably what I would class a proper musician. He plays his intrument, writes his songs and works brilliantly acousticly and with a band.
Dev, formerly of Test Icicles, now plays solo as a sort of folk/alt-country artist, and has done nothing but impress me in the last few months.
When listening to his material, I find that you can really connect to what he is saying, despite the fact pretty much all of his songs are personal to him and what he is feeling at the time.
I have been lucky enough to witness him playing this summmer, and was immediately captivated, like everyone else in the crowd. He just has something about him that makes you want to keep on listening, not only to the song in general, but to what he has to say.
Other than the fact the man is something of a song writing genius, rumoured to be a song a day, he does a great job of keeping his fans happy. There is always some kind of download that he's giving away free, whether its cover songs or his 'album' that he wrote and recorded in a day. He also writes a great blog here.

Anyone who can write a 10 minute long song, that people want to listen to more than once is genius in my books.

Oh, and with hair like that, it's hard not to admire him!

The best thing since sliced bread?

The Video Nasties

No. That would be a lie. They are the best thing since forever. Fact.
The Video Nasties are a 5 piece from London that formed in 2005. Their debut gig was witnessed by a couple of Les Incompetents, who were [so rightly] impressed that a couple of gigs followed; and their self released demo caught the attention of Xfm DJ John Kennedy.
Since then they have played many gigs, including supporting Jack Peñate on his tour, and are now supporting Jakobinarina on their UK tour.
They released their Karl Blau EP on Way Out West records at the end of October and it is a true masterpiece [get yourself a copy, I have mine and it's brilliant!].

I was first introduced to The Video Nasties at the Electric Gardens festival in early August, and ever since then, they have taken up the majority of my music listening time. For all you people out there familiar with Last.fm, you will probably know it's hard to get a single band to the top of your 'Most listened artists overall' in one week and have them at the top of your 'Most listened artists this week' for 13 weeks on the trot!
Seriously, they really are that good, I really can't gush about this band enough so i'll just let you make up your own minds.

I'm posting two tracks from their current Karl Blau EP, but they are only samples as I really think you should be out buying their stuff!!

Enjoy!

Check out www.last.fm, it's really good if you're interested in your music listening habits; it really is addictive!

The Ghost Frequency

See now, The Ghost Frequency are a band I can get excited about; they have been described as a breath of fresh air from the current Indie/Nu Rave scene and i couldn't agree more.
They are known for mixing different styles such as Dancehall and Post-Hardcore and their love of rumbling bass, vintage analogue drums and a weird fixation with ghetto blasters.
As messy as sounds, give them a try, they really are bloody good. I personally, think the above is misleading and can only say I think of it as very catchy danceable indie.
The London 5 piece are signed with indie label City Rockers, and have just finished a tour supporting for Hadouken! and are just about to kick off their own headline tour on the 21st.
Seriously check these guys out, I haven't been able to stop listening to them for the last couple of months. My favourite 'Lips Stitched Tight' is currently available for download on Myspace, but you should probably check out 'Nightmare' as that seems to be the most popular.

Because it wouldn't be a music blog without...

Black Kids

This band seem to be on everyones lips lately, now I personally can't understand why, but I know i'll end up changing my mind within the next few weeks so I might as well shut up.
Anyway, they hail from Jacksonville in Florida and play music that sounds like it has come straight out of the 80's.
They are currently offering their debut EP 'Wizard of Ahhhs' for free on their website , but i'll post what I think is their best song of the bunch, if you can't be bothered and are lazy like myself.
I'm also going to post Kate Nash doing a cover of their song 'I'm not gonna teach your boyfriend how to dance with you', I think it's better than the original..but thats only my opinion.

Anyway, if you like what you hear, they'll be in England for a short time from December 5th doing a few gigs around London, so catch them there!
