Been a bit of a hectic month recently, what with University applying and whatnot, but now thats all done, and two unconditional [Oooh, get me!] offers under my belt so far, I can finally get back to blogging!

If you're ever feeling a bit worse for wear and need cheering up, stick some Muscles on your iPod, stereo or computer.
I can guarentee you'll be immediately thrown into the feeling a 5 year old might get if stuck in a room with hundreds of balloons, bubbles and chocolate. Or be as happy as a 'hardcore' raver might be if shut in a dark rooms with a thousand glow sticks and a bag of pills.
Either way, it will have you dancing away with a stupid grin on your face.

His debut album 'Guns Babes Lemonade' was released in Australia in late September, and reached #1 in the Dance Album Chart in its first week.
Do you need anymore reasoning to check this guy out?!

Chaotic. Energetic. Manic. Catchy. Dancey.
All words that can describe the fantastic JA JA WUNDERBAR. The kind of band that make you want to jump around and punch the air the second their music enters your ear'oles. I can guarentee after a few listens of these 5 boys, you'll be humming their tunes away to yourselves for days.
More than likely in the street, while passers-by glare at you oddly.
I think this excerpt from their Myspace describes it all really:
"the five of us were auspiciously formed into a band during a WELL JOKES science lesson about spontaneous combustion, and with the use of greensparkes' german skills, we were able to fabricate the name that is,
JA JA WUNDERBAR.
with big man spex on the buttons, practices often end in murphs gums bleeding. and if he, the night hobbit, shows up we would try not understand the emotional realms he continously wanders to. leaving behind the 3 remaining members, to fuck shit up quickly."

Their name is definately in my top 5 band names, quite catchy dontcha think?

Everybody loves Dev.

Lightspeed Champion.

Probably what I would class a proper musician. He plays his intrument, writes his songs and works brilliantly acousticly and with a band.
Dev, formerly of Test Icicles, now plays solo as a sort of folk/alt-country artist, and has done nothing but impress me in the last few months.
When listening to his material, I find that you can really connect to what he is saying, despite the fact pretty much all of his songs are personal to him and what he is feeling at the time.
I have been lucky enough to witness him playing this summmer, and was immediately captivated, like everyone else in the crowd. He just has something about him that makes you want to keep on listening, not only to the song in general, but to what he has to say.
Other than the fact the man is something of a song writing genius, rumoured to be a song a day, he does a great job of keeping his fans happy. There is always some kind of download that he's giving away free, whether its cover songs or his 'album' that he wrote and recorded in a day. He also writes a great blog here.

Anyone who can write a 10 minute long song, that people want to listen to more than once is genius in my books.

Oh, and with hair like that, it's hard not to admire him!

The Video Nasties

No. That would be a lie. They are the best thing since forever. Fact.
The Video Nasties are a 5 piece from London that formed in 2005. Their debut gig was witnessed by a couple of Les Incompetents, who were [so rightly] impressed that a couple of gigs followed; and their self released demo caught the attention of Xfm DJ John Kennedy.
Since then they have played many gigs, including supporting Jack Peñate on his tour, and are now supporting Jakobinarina on their UK tour.
They released their Karl Blau EP on Way Out West records at the end of October and it is a true masterpiece [get yourself a copy, I have mine and it's brilliant!].

I was first introduced to The Video Nasties at the Electric Gardens festival in early August, and ever since then, they have taken up the majority of my music listening time. For all you people out there familiar with Last.fm, you will probably know it's hard to get a single band to the top of your 'Most listened artists overall' in one week and have them at the top of your 'Most listened artists this week' for 13 weeks on the trot!
Seriously, they really are that good, I really can't gush about this band enough so i'll just let you make up your own minds.

I'm posting two tracks from their current Karl Blau EP, but they are only samples as I really think you should be out buying their stuff!!

The Ghost Frequency

See now, The Ghost Frequency are a band I can get excited about; they have been described as a breath of fresh air from the current Indie/Nu Rave scene and i couldn't agree more.
They are known for mixing different styles such as Dancehall and Post-Hardcore and their love of rumbling bass, vintage analogue drums and a weird fixation with ghetto blasters.
As messy as sounds, give them a try, they really are bloody good. I personally, think the above is misleading and can only say I think of it as very catchy danceable indie.
The London 5 piece are signed with indie label City Rockers, and have just finished a tour supporting for Hadouken! and are just about to kick off their own headline tour on the 21st.
Seriously check these guys out, I haven't been able to stop listening to them for the last couple of months. My favourite 'Lips Stitched Tight' is currently available for download on Myspace, but you should probably check out 'Nightmare' as that seems to be the most popular.

Black Kids

This band seem to be on everyones lips lately, now I personally can't understand why, but I know i'll end up changing my mind within the next few weeks so I might as well shut up.
Anyway, they hail from Jacksonville in Florida and play music that sounds like it has come straight out of the 80's.
They are currently offering their debut EP 'Wizard of Ahhhs' for free on their website , but i'll post what I think is their best song of the bunch, if you can't be bothered and are lazy like myself.
I'm also going to post Kate Nash doing a cover of their song 'I'm not gonna teach your boyfriend how to dance with you', I think it's better than the original..but thats only my opinion.
