Lightspeed Champion.
Probably what I would class a proper musician. He plays his intrument, writes his songs and works brilliantly acousticly and with a band.
Dev, formerly of Test Icicles, now plays solo as a sort of folk/alt-country artist, and has done nothing but impress me in the last few months.
When listening to his material, I find that you can really connect to what he is saying, despite the fact pretty much all of his songs are personal to him and what he is feeling at the time.
I have been lucky enough to witness him playing this summmer, and was immediately captivated, like everyone else in the crowd. He just has something about him that makes you want to keep on listening, not only to the song in general, but to what he has to say.
Other than the fact the man is something of a song writing genius, rumoured to be a song a day, he does a great job of keeping his fans happy. There is always some kind of download that he's giving away free, whether its cover songs or his 'album' that he wrote and recorded in a day. He also writes a great blog
here.
Anyone who can write a 10 minute long song, that people want to listen to more than once is genius in my books.
Oh, and with hair like that, it's hard not to admire him!
